Buttermilk Falls In Indiana, Pennsylvania

My sister and brother-in-law took us to Buttermilk Falls last Saturday and what a beautiful place it is!

Did you know this beautiful spot located in Indiana, Pennsylvania, has deep roots in family history? From 1931 to 1956, this land belonged to Fred McFeely—the grandfather of the beloved Fred Rogers! For him, it was a cherished retreat. Imagine adventures to a large, cozy home with horse stables, a three-car garage, and swimming adventures in the creek beside the falls. While Mr. Rogers often visited as a child, hints of the McFeely grandeur—like original stone foundations—still remain on site today!

From Golden Ragwort, Red Trillium, Solomon’s Seal, Wood Fern, Mayapple, and even a young Milkweed sprouting directly out of asphalt, there was just so much to see! I happily admit, the older I become, the more I just absolutely love exploring these types of areas while photographing all the various surrounding plantlife. We even saw an Eastern Comma (I am not 100% poitive on this ID) butterfly!

Additional information can be found here, too!
