How to React to Great News: Celebration or Reflection?

Today’s writing prompt asks what I would do if I received fantastic news.

A cheerful man with gray hair raising his arms in joy, smiling broadly in a well-lit room.

You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

If I got fantastic news, my first move would depend on what the news was. If it’s a personal milestone—like a promotion, or a surprise gift—I’d probably jump into celebration mode. But if it’s something unexpected, like sudden multi-million lottery winnings or a twist I didn’t see coming, I’d probably pause to process it.

The key? Context matters. A promotion might mean grabbing a drink with friends, while a surprise winning lottery ticket might mean scrambling to figure out next steps.

What’s your first instinct when you get good news? Do you share it right away, or do you give pause and process it all first?
