I could potentially compose an extensive novel on this subject. In fact, my response(s) may appear more akin to a compilation of regrets than instructional lesson(s) that I wish I had acquired earlier. Nevertheless, I shall present my top five responses:
- Listening To My Parents More – I am sure this is something every adult ponders back upon. In all seriousness, though; I really should have taken their advice a little more than what little I did when I was a kid\young adult. Life would have been a bit easier if I did. C’est la vie.
- Trying Harder In School – In retrospect, I should have heeded my parents’ advice. My earlier years were filled with excessive horsing\clowning around, playing games, and laziness. C’est la vie.
- Getting Married – I may face criticism from my ex if she ever reads this, but after much self-reflection, I believe our marriage was ill-advised given our individual circumstances. While I have two beautiful children, one of whom is grown up, and the other will turn eighteen next year, sometimes attempting to do the right thing can have unintended consequences; especially when I was a pompous, and arrogant fool with a huge ego to boot. I believe my ex would likely understand and even agree with this assessment. C’est la vie.
- Gorging On Food – I suppose I need to explain this. I’m now on a self-imposed diet because of the years of careless eating habits I indulged in. Eating excessively can lead to serious health complications later in life. This is a lesson I’ve learned the hard way. C’est la vie.
- Patience – For years, even during childhood, I simply lacked any patience. Having understanding, and even a sense of empathy, can go a long way in terms of mental and even physical well being. C’est la vie.
What are some of the lessons you wish you had learned earlier in your own life?
Do you have any regrets?
C’est la vie
