My Favorite Foods

Daily writing prompt
What are your favorite types of foods?

I could go on and on about this, but since I don’t want to write a novel in response to this writing prompt, I’ll list my top five favorite types of food instead.

  • Italian – Genuine Italian cuisine, unlike what you’d find at Olive Garden, is distinctly way different. Even better, homemade Italian. By the way, Olive Garden is to Italian cuisine what McDonald’s is to a good burger.
  • Burgers – Speaking of burgers, there’s nothing quite like a real burger—I mean a good, honest burger made fresh from high-quality ground chuck, nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection via medium-rare with real melted American cheese; topped with freshly sliced tomato, lettuce (please, not iceberg), and pickle. Forget the mustard and ketchup here; I feel they only mask the yummy flavor of the rest of the burger.
  • Chinese – There’s something comforting about a good plate of Chinese food, especially after a long and tiring day at work. A steaming, hot plate of Moo Goo Gai Pan is the perfect remedy! Or, a good plate of spicy Kung Pao Chicken, without the peanuts, of course.
  • Soup – There’s something special about a hot bowl of soup, especially when I’m feeling under the weather. There’s really no soup I dislike. I love a good homemade chicken noodle soup, beef barley soup, pasta fagioli, to a fulfilling lentil soup, I love them all, you just cannot go wrong here.
  • Seafood – A delicious plate of salmon, prepared properly, is not only satisfying but also quite beneficial for your health. I also enjoy rainbow trout, pollock, haddock, sea bass, and halibut. Add a side of fresh steamed vegetables with jasmine rice to any of the fish I just listed and you have a yummy meal ahead! Oh, and don’t forget a fresh lemon wedge!

So there you have it—those are my favorite types of foods! What are yours?
