When The Grey Days Hit: My Go-To Mood Boosters (and Maybe Yours Too?)

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

We all have them, right? Those days when the world just feels a little… dull. Maybe a wave of anxiety washes over you, or sadness lingers like a cloudy afternoon. It’s not always dramatic, just a persistent hum of negativity that can really impact your day.

I used to try and power through, pretending everything was fine. Spoiler alert: that never works. Now, I have a few little tricks up my sleeve that help me navigate those grey days.

My Simple Survival Kit:

• Music Therapy: Throwing on a playlist of my favorite music is an instant mood lifter. This is my absolute go-to! I love music and most times this is pretty much all I need!

• A Quick Walk: Seriously, fresh air and a change of scenery can do wonders. Even 10 minutes makes a difference.

• Cozy Comforts: Wrapping up in my favorite blanket with a cup of hot chai latte or hot chocolate? Yes, please!

It’s not about erasing the feelings, but about giving myself tools to gently nudge myself towards a slightly brighter space.

  1. As an anxiety suffer, I do 2 short inhales and breath out a count of 8. I sip water, eat nuts, I go sit on my porch , soak up sun, stand with bare feet on grass and ground myself. I remind myself this shall pass, I hum anything, all of these methods were learned over time. My favorite is a weighted blanket and I pray.
