I captured this gorgeous Black-eyed Susan (a/k/a yellow cone flower) back on June 21 while visiting North Park:

The Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), a perennial plant, is renowned for its vibrant, sun-kissed blooms and remarkable resilience. With its striking golden-yellow petals and dark brown or black centers, this flower has become a beloved staple in gardens, meadows, and natural landscapes across North America.
This species is native to eastern and central North America, but its range has expanded significantly. It has successfully naturalized across of the Canadian provinces, the contiguous United States, and even into China.
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, Black-eyed Susans play a vital ecological role by attracting beneficial insects. They are particularly well-suited for butterfly gardens and can be incorporated into wildflower mixes.
I love coneflowers and you capture this one beautifully. 😊
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I’ll be posting a photo of chicory tomorrow with some common info on it. I never realized how common chicory is around here until I did some research on it.
